Skin Booster Injections (Juvederm Volite / Profhilo)

Unlike dermal fillers that add structural volume, skin boosters (Juvederm Volite, Restylane Skinboosters, Profhilo) inject highly cross-linked or ultra-pure hyaluronic acid intradermally. The HA integrates into the dermis, attracting and holding enormous amounts of water — a single molecule of HA can hold up to 1000x its weight in water. This dramatically improves skin hydration at a level unreachable by topicals. Profhilo (a unique hybrid HA) additionally triggers collagen type I and III production and elastin stimulation through its bio-remodeling properties.

Sessions take 20–30 minutes. Topical numbing cream optional (injections are relatively tolerable, 3–4/10). Multiple micro-injections across the face in a grid or the 5-point Profhilo injection technique. Post-treatment: small bumps at injection sites resolve within hours. Mild swelling possible for 1–2 days. Avoid intense exercise, sauna, alcohol, and makeup for 24 hours. Two sessions 4 weeks apart for initial course, then every 6 months maintenance.

Juvederm Volite (Allergan) was the first skin booster to receive European CE mark (2016) and has since become one of the most prescribed aesthetic injectable treatments globally. In Korea, domestic HA skin boosters (Regen, Juvena) compete with international brands. Profhilo (IBSA, Italy) entered Korea around 2020 and rapidly gained popularity. The skin booster category sits between traditional skincare and aesthetic medicine, creating a new patient segment: those who want skin quality improvement without volume addition.
