Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38
Also known as: matrixyl-synthe-6, matrixyl-3000
Sederma's six-act peptide โ stimulates collagen I, III, IV, fibronectin, hyaluronic acid, and laminin 5 in one molecule. The grown-up version of generic 'peptide complex.'
What It Does
Deep Dive
Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38 is the active in Sederma's Matrixyl synthe'6 โ the lab that gave the industry the original Matrixyl (Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4) launched this in the early 2010s as the next-generation upgrade. The pitch: instead of stimulating one or two components of the dermal matrix, it triggers synthesis of six (collagen types I, III, and IV; fibronectin; hyaluronic acid; and laminin 5). Independent and Sederma-funded studies show measurable wrinkle-depth reduction at 8 weeks of 4% Matrixyl synthe'6 use โ in the same ballpark as a low-concentration retinoid but without the irritation. You'll find it in The Ordinary's Matrixyl 10% + HA, Beauty of Joseon's Revive Eye Serum, COSRX's Peptide Booster Cream, and any premium serum marketed as 'biomimetic peptide complex.' Stable, plays well with everything, and one of the few peptides with enough independent data to take seriously.
