What It Does
Deep Dive
Bacopa monnieri is a small creeping wetland herb traditional to Ayurvedic medicine for nearly 3,000 years. Famous in the West as a nootropic (and ingested evidence is better than anyone expected), it's simultaneously used topically in Ayurveda for scalp, hair, and sensitive skin. Chemistry: bacosides — triterpenoid saponins that show anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects in vitro. Topical evidence is mostly traditional + in-vitro — clinical human trials are sparse. Where it shows up: Ayurvedic hair oils, calming face oils, and scalp treatments. Brands: Kama Ayurveda Bringadi, Juicy Chemistry, Forest Essentials.
