The Black Forest co-op you buy when Weleda feels too international. The speick plant extract (a protected species, sustainably harvested) is the genuine point of difference. Natural deodorants and soaps are the cult picks. Not a full-routine brand — but individual items earn their place.

The Speick Story
Founded in 1928 by Walter Rau in Stuttgart as a small soap manufacturer. The speick plant (Valeriana celtica) grows only in specific alpine regions and is harvested under EU conservation protocols. Speick was one of the first German natural-cosmetics brands to use the plant commercially under strict quotas.

Natural Face Intensive Care Cream Rich
Speick's flagship face cream — and one of the most botanically distinctive moisturizers in the German-beauty lineup. The signature ingredient is Valeriana celtica (Speick plant), a rare high-alpine valerian species that grows only above 1,800m in the Austrian and Italian Alps — harvested under UNESCO biosphere reserve license, it's one of the most geographically restricted botanical actives in skincare. CoQ10 (ubiquinone) provides antioxidant protection, cupuaçu butter nourishes, sea buckthorn delivers vitamins C and E, and soy sterols support the lipid barrier. COSMOS Natural certified, vegan (despite beeswax), made in Stuttgart since 1928. At $15 for 50ml, this is exceptional value for a COSMOS-certified rich cream with genuinely rare botanicals.
