SoulTree is India's more quietly-run answer to Kama Ayurveda — certified organic, using ayurvedic preparations rooted in traditional Indian pharmacopeia, with a more editorial aesthetic than Forest Essentials. Pricing sits mid-tier, and the kajal and lip balms are the unexpected hero SKUs.
Strengths
- + Certified ayurvedic formulations
- + Clean sourcing
- + Editorial packaging
Weaknesses
- − Limited international distribution
- − Inconsistent shipping outside India
- − Smaller range than Kama
The SoulTree Story
SoulTree launched in 2011 in Delhi, founded by a family with a long-standing relationship to ayurveda. The brand is one of the few in India certified under both ECOCERT and the Ministry of AYUSH's Ayurvedic Pharmacopeia of India. Product development happens at the company's in-house lab in Rajasthan. SoulTree quietly expanded into the UK, Germany, and Japan via organic retail channels but remains best known in its home market.

Saffron, Neem & Turmeric Face Wash
SoulTree is one of India's few BDIH-certified Ayurvedic skincare brands — and this is the cleanser for skin that wants the saffron-neem-turmeric trio without the chalky feel of traditional ubtans. Genuine Kashmir saffron, organic neem, organic turmeric, plus tulsi (holy basil), all in a gentle potassium cocoate / coco-glucoside cleansing base. The kind of Ayurvedic formulation that doesn't feel like a compromise.

Lotus & Kokum Butter Lip Balm
SoulTree's Ayurvedic lip balm — and the first SoulTree product in the database. Kokum butter (Garcinia indica, a Western Ghats-endemic cousin of cocoa butter with exceptional emollient and anti-inflammatory properties) combined with seven cold-pressed oils (castor, sunflower, olive, coconut, apricot, almond, grapeseed), organic ghee (clarified butter, the Ayurvedic gold-standard lipid for skin repair), and pink lotus extract. BDIH/IHTK certified, Natrue-certified, made from certified organic ingredients where available. No synthetic colors, fragrances, or preservatives. Kokum butter is the distinctly Indian ingredient — it has a higher melting point than shea, doesn't feel greasy, and provides long-lasting barrier protection. At ₹795 (~$10) for 3.5g, it's premium per gram, but the certification and formulation are genuinely Ayurvedic-luxe.
