Augustinus Bader's The Cream launched in 2018 and became one of the most-talked-about luxury skincare products of the last decade. The TFC8 complex (trigger factor concentrate, derived from Bader's wound-healing research) has real science behind it, but whether that translates to a face cream justifying โฌ300 is a philosophical question. The Rich Cream is the better buy for drier skin.
Strengths
- + Genuine underlying science
- + Elegant formulation
- + Strong results for mature skin
Weaknesses
- โ โฌ300+ pricing
- โ Founder is German, branding is US
- โ Modest SPF and acid ranges
The Augustinus Bader Story
Professor Augustinus Bader is a German biomedical scientist whose lab at the University of Leipzig developed a wound-healing technology originally intended for burn victims. In 2018, he partnered with US entrepreneur Charles Rosier to adapt the tech (branded TFC8 โ Trigger Factor Complex) into a consumer skincare line. The Cream (and the richer version The Rich Cream) launched to massive celebrity press coverage and quickly became one of the most-stolen products at Space NK stores. Headquartered in Los Angeles despite the German science origin.

The Cream
Augustinus Bader's lighter sister to The Rich Cream โ same TFC8 hero, in a daily-driver weight for combo and oilier skin types ready to invest in the brand's science.

The Rich Cream
The $290 cream that biomedical professor Augustinus Bader built on his TFC8 (Trigger Factor Complex) wound-healing research. The clinical data is on wound healing, not anti-aging specifically โ but the celebrity endorsement list (Kim Kardashian, Victoria Beckham, Naomi Campbell) is its own data set. The cream is genuinely excellent; whether it's $260 better than CeraVe is the real question.
