Licorice Root (Glycyrrhiza glabra)
Also known as: glycyrrhiza-glabra, liquorice, glycyrrhizin, licochalcone-a
The multitasker that calms, brightens, and basically raised half of Eucerin's Anti-Redness line.
What It Does
Deep Dive
Glycyrrhiza glabra extract contains glabridin and licochalcone-A, two flavonoids with documented anti-inflammatory (inhibit NF-ฮบB), antioxidant, and tyrosinase-inhibiting effects. That trifecta makes licorice root one of the rare "does three things well" ingredients. Eucerin isolated licochalcone-A for its Anti-Redness line, K-beauty brands use the full root extract in calming essences, and Kama Ayurveda uses mulethi in its classical formulas. Especially useful for the mid-cheek pigmentation + redness combo that doesn't know whether it's rosacea or melasma.
