Fatty alcohols (cetyl, stearyl, cetearyl alcohol) are long-chain waxy alcohols derived from plant oils. They're emollients, thickeners, and co-emulsifiers that make creams feel rich and dense. Nothing like short-chain drying alcohols (ethanol, isopropyl). People avoiding "alcohol" based on labels often mistakenly skip fatty alcohols — which would be throwing out valuable barrier-supporting ingredients. Read the INCI name carefully.
