Tinosorb S
Also known as: Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine, Bemotrizinol
The modern UV filter EU and Asia have that the US doesn't โ broad-spectrum, photostable, genuinely better than avobenzone.
What It Does
Deep Dive
Tinosorb S is a large-molecule photostable filter that covers both UVA and UVB ranges. It doesn't degrade under sunlight and helps stabilize other filters. The FDA hasn't approved it in the US (the approval process is punishingly slow), which is why US sunscreens lag EU/Asian ones in UVA protection. If you care about photoaging, an EU or Korean sunscreen with Tinosorb S is measurably better UVA coverage than a US avobenzone product.

Up to 10% EU. NOT FDA-approved in the US โ reason Asian/EU sunscreens outperform US.
