Deep Dive
Phytic acid is a plant-derived antioxidant and chelating agent that does exfoliation and brightening at surface concentrations. Much gentler than glycolic, lactic, or salicylic. Often paired with other acids in multi-active formulations (most famously in Biologique Recherche's cult P50 lotion). Works by inhibiting tyrosinase and chelating metals that catalyze free-radical damage.
