Eco Tan started as a self-tanning brand and expanded into skincare that pairs with tanning prep. The Super Cacao Face Tan Water is the hero SKU — a gradual face tanner that actually fades evenly. Skincare range is smaller but the Invisible Tan is the broader reason to know the brand.
Strengths
- + Certified-organic self-tanning formulas
- + Even-fade Face Tan Water
- + Vegan and cruelty-free
Weaknesses
- − Self-tan primary focus
- − Fragranced
- − Limited face skincare depth
The Eco Tan Story
Eco Tan launched in 2008 on the Gold Coast, founded by Sonya Driver after she struggled to find a self-tanner that didn't trigger her skin sensitivities. The brand built its reputation as the first major Australian self-tanner to achieve ACO (Australian Certified Organic) certification and has expanded into skincare adjacent to the self-tanning category — cleansers, face moisturizers, body treatments. Remains independently-owned.

Glory Oil
Eco Tan's face oil — and one of the cleanest formulations in any origin. Eight ingredients, every single one certified organic: seven cold-pressed seed oils (grape, coconut, jojoba, acai, chia, pumpkin, sacha inchi) plus natural vitamin E. No fragrance, no preservatives, no emulsifiers, no filler. The oil blend is cleverly composed — grape seed provides a lightweight linoleic-acid base that absorbs without greasiness, sacha inchi delivers omega-3 (unusual in a face oil), acai and chia add antioxidant depth, and jojoba mimics the skin's own sebum composition. Australian-made by Eco By Sonya, who built the brand on certified-organic self-tanners before expanding into skincare. At $40 for 30ml, fair pricing for an all-organic seven-oil blend.
